about me

My name is Katrine, and I was born and raised in Denmark. I graduated as a psychologist from the University of Copenhagen (MA sc.) in 2015, and completed a 2-year specialization in Narrative Psychotherapy at DISPUK in 2024. Since my graduation, I have worked at Solvita, a sister Danish company that provides social and psychological services. There, I now cover a manager position, provide therapy, supervision and teaching.

In my daily life I live with my husband and our three daughters in Waterloo, Ontario. Living life in between countries has taught me important life lessons which inform my professional life as a psychologist.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families spanning all ages and widely diverse backgrounds, from the divorced mom worrying for her children to the burnt out employee, from the woman in an abusive relationship to the person in a position of power struggling to be ethical, from the refugee surviving torture to the Danish woman who never felt loved.

Knowing how diverse lives can be, when I start a journey with a client I always begin by meeting them where they are. Together, we take time to understand what has happened, what has already been attempted, and what knowledge they hold about their own lives. From this position of knowledge, we then nurture our curiosity and bravery to continue on the life journey ahead.

I firmly believe that “no person is the problem; the problem is the problem.” I see therapy as a liberating process, where the issues that have a hold on you can move into the background, creating space for you to rebuild nurturing connections with yourself and your communities.

Social justice has been a core value for me from an early age, profoundly shaping my principles and direction. This dedication led me to become a psychologist, inspired by the hope of making a meaningful difference. My goal is to help create a world with less violence and stronger rights for everyone. In the Narrative Practice I have found ethical therapeutic models that support me in this journey.

If you would like to explore whether beginning a therapeutic journey together is right for you, please feel free to contact me at katrine@solvita.dk and we can set up a non-binding videocall. I welcome clients from the EU, and most countries throughout the world; for legal reasons, however, I cannot accept clients from the US and Canada.

No person is the problem; the problem is the problem.
